Our Client Agreement is comprised of four (4) parts:
ITEM 1: Action List
Our Action List sets out the details of actions you would like us to undertake and our proposed fees.
We provide Action Lists to you for your approval throughout the course of your matter.
ITEM 2: Disclosure Notice
Our Disclosure Notice sets out information that we are required by law to disclose to you under the Legal Profession Act 2007 (Qld).

ITEM 3: Cost Agreement
Our Cost Agreement describes the basis on which we propose that you engage us.

Where to from here?
Please ensure that you have carefully read and understood each part of the Client Agreement.
You do not have to sign and return the Client Agreement, but it is important to understand that if you continue to instruct us on this matter, we will be entitled to assume that you accept all the conditions in the Client Agreement.
If you wish to sign the Client Agreement, please find the execution clause in the provided ITEM 1: Action List.

Professional Fees
Professional fees are charged at the amount calculated by reference to the amount of time spent on the Work, for which the hourly charge rates are:

Lindsay Mengel $500
Paralegal $250
Law Clerk $150
Office Assistance $125
Professional time is charged in 6 minute intervals. The minimum time interval recorded for professional services is 6 minutes. Where the time taken is not an exact multiple of 6 minutes, the time will be rounded up to the next multiple of 6 minutes.
Some parts of the Work may be charged on a fixed fee basis. In that case, our fee for that part of the Work will be the nominated fixed fee, regard-less of the length of time taken to perform that part of the Work.

Disbursements
Expenses and disbursements are sums of money which this law practice pays (or becomes liable to pay) to others on your behalf. These may include, for example:
Search fees
Enquiry fees
Court and other filing fees
Lodgement fees
All government revenue charges (including stamp duty)
Transaction specific banking charges
Process servers and investigators
Clinical records from hospitals
Medical, experts’ reports and/or other external consultants
Witnesses fees and expenses
Postage courier and messengers
Transcripts charges
Other law practice fees (including barrister’s fees)
Travel expenses and accommodation costs
Mengel Law will inform you of these expenses and disbursements as well as any other payments required to be made, as soon as is reasonably practicable.
Credit Card Surcharges
Please advise if you wish to process out account via credit card as surcharges may apply.
